Turkey might block Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
Major US social media sites will be banned in Turkey because the owners of these media platforms have not established a presence in the country
The Social Media Law obliges companies that own social media sites to open offices in Turkey. Companies without offices will first be fined, and if the situation does not change, they will be banned from operating in the country altogether.
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are currently at risk of being blocked.
It is worth noting that the opening of the offices will allow the Turkish government to control the activities of American corporations in the country. In particular, their representatives can be brought before a court in case of violations of Turkish law.
